| Deanna Kulpa:
Deanna Kulpa grew up in Northern Michigan listening
to Terry Wooten perform poetry around the bonfire on summer
nights at Stone Circle. Now, she lives in Ann Arbor
and performs her own brand of poetry at the Ann Arbor Poetry
Slam. She was a member of the Poetry Slam Team representing
Ann Arbor at the National Poetry Slam in St. Louis in 2004
and was an alternate for the team in 2003. She is also
a member of the Ann Arbor team competing in the Midwest Poetry
Slam League. Her work can be found in A2 Brute, a collection
of poems from the Ann Arbor Poetry Slam Team and the Off the
Mic anthology from the Wordsmith Press. She is currently
writing her thesis to obtain a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from
the University of Michigan. Deanna has been a poetry lecturer
at Washtenaw Community College, and her poetry has been published
in several anthologies. She has been a regular performer
in and around the Ann Arbor area for the last few years.
