Esther Hurwitz was a featured
reader on NPR's "A Night Out in Ann Arbor" with
Garrison Keillor as well as being voted *Ms. Under Appreciated*
at the 2000 Rustbelt Slam. Her poems have appeared in many
places including Exquisite Corpse, The Huron
River Review, the Ann Arbor (W)rites anthology,
and the United Nations Dialogue Among Civilizations
poetry anthologies. Soft as a Beagle's Ears, her
first collection of poems, was published in October 2002 (www.thewordsmithpress.com).
A refugee from technical writing, Esther teaches college classes
in creative, business, and fundamentals of writing at Washtenaw
Community College and is a freelance writer and copy-editor.
Esther lives in southeast Michigan
to be near her family, not because she likes the weather.
She is her mother's favorite poet, although her father favored
Shakespeare. Her biggest epiphany in 2004 was learning why
the hell she needs a cat. Esthers homepage is
