| Deb Marsh:
Deb began attending
the Ann Arbor Poetry Slam in 1990 and since then has gone
on to help organize and compete in numerous national and local
poetry slams and continues to work as one of the three organizers
of the Ann Arbor Poetry Slam.
Achievements
- Featured Poet at the Del Rio Feed the
Poet Series 1998, 2000
- Featured Poet at the Gotham City Women’s
Poetry Reading 1995
- Featured Poet at the Guild House Poetry
Series 1998 and 2001
- Coached the 2000 Ann Arbor National Poetry
Slam team to semi-finals
- Published a book of her own poetry by
The Wordsmith Press.
Deb has been a high-school English teacher
since 1983 and is currently the Language Arts Department Chair,
Director of Debate and Forensics, Teacher of English Language
Arts at Dexter High School inDexter, Michigan. She also bought
in the Poet-a-Month program to her school where poets visit
the school and work with students to improve their own writing
and delivery. She has hosted youth poetry readings and coached
students to participate in the National Youth Poetry Slam.
