James Dixon:

James brings over 10 years of poetic experience both on the page and on the stage to our program.  He has performed at numerous middle schools, libraries and colleges in the radius of Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and Albion.  James has an Associates of Arts degree from Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek.  His focus is to help bridge the gap between slam and academic poets, as well as to educate his audiences about the experience of being Black in America.  Many of his pieces include important individuals who have all too often been excluded from our textbooks.
